Welcome to Y5 time travellers, and join in our journey back to the Age of Invention and Innovation. Come with us as we DISCOVER what life really was like for Victorian children and we examine the jobs that working children did. We will sharpen our REASONing skills to decide which inventor had the greatest impact on the lives of ordinary people. Using our EMPATHY, we create diaries, writing in character from chimney sweeps to workhouse orphans. We ASK QUESTIONS of the characters from Oliver Twist to see what they can tell us about the times they lived in. In Y5, we know that we can MAKE MISTAKES and learn from them, this is especially important when we examine the work of engineers and try to build our own bridges. Practical learning in Science, Art and Design Technology help us to BE RESILIENT, particularly with our art work inspired by the prints of William Morris. We will IMAGINE AND CREATE our own wallpaper prints based on his works and the Arts and Crafts movement. This term Y5 will GROW in confidence, ready to tackle any challenge ahead.
Exciting times ahead in the Autumn Term for Y5 to use their superpowers and DREAM BIG!
