Enriching experiences can have such a huge value to all pupils by challenging their understanding and creating memorable moments. 

Our ‘Beyond the Classroom’ section of the website is an extension of the learning within the classroom, designed to fuel a passion within pupils to discover more about the world around them and the world beyond Birchwood. Topics for each year group have specially designed opportunities for children to deepen their understanding within that area of study. Pupils will have the opportunity to look at their classroom learning within different context, engaging in a range of resources from videos to historical maps. 

From this point, the learning becomes driven by the pupils, giving them a chance to research, question and discover. Understanding can be expressed through a number of different activities- both written and creative- as well as opportunities to share with their classmates. 

We hope that these opportunities will create our own creative thinkers of the future!
