Year 4
Summer term 1
Our golden envelope task was to persuade the governors that the Y4 residential visit to Rand Farm was worth the money the school spends on it.
Spring term 2
This term's Golden Envelope task was to think about careers in writing and become journalists. We used our investigative skills with our history learning and examined the Roman Invasion from both sides of the conflict. Our newspaper stories have tackled Boudicca, hero or villain?
Spring term 1
Our golden envelope task was to become an author. We studied the book Empire's End. In it the main character Camilla is burying a treasure chest full of her memory objects. As authors we added a new treasure and wrote a gladiator adventure for her.
Autumn term 2
Our golden envelope task was to create a setting and character description ready to share in a celebration assembly. We wrote the setting of Medusa's lair with Perseus trying to track her down. Hopefully some of them will be spine chilling as well as exciting!
Autumn term 1
Our golden envelope task was to create an explanation text for Greek monsters. We decided to use our novel study of The Odyssey and help out Odysseus in his quest to return home. We learned about the different monsters he might encounter and created our own traps to help him defeat them. Our explanation texts will tell Odysseus a little about the monster, its environment and how to safely trap it.
