Sports Ambassadors

Sports Ambassadors are elected by their peers at the start of each academic year. They work right across Birchwood, supporting children in both lower and upper school.

At break times and lunchtimes, our Ambassadors run a wide variety of games and activities, making sure there is something for every child on the playground rather than only for those who already play sport confidently. They help host our house competitions and school games events, and they play a central part in running sports day each year.

Their work also reaches beyond Birchwood. Sports Ambassadors support the infant schools in the Forest Skies Federation, helping at sports afternoons and in PE lessons, which gives our older children the experience of leading and encouraging the youngest pupils in the federation.

Our Sports Ambassadors are also a significant reason Birchwood has held the School Games Mark at Gold for five consecutive years. That award recognises the breadth of sport and competition offered across a school, and our Ambassadors are directly responsible for a good deal of it.
